The municipal swimming pool features two slides and one low diving board. The water depth is from two feet to ten feet. The diving board and large slide are located where the water depth is ten feet. Another small slide is located where the water depth is 3 1/2 feet. The facility also features a wading pool for children under the age of six. Adult supervision is required in the wading pool area. Pool HoursThe pool is open 7 days a week, weather permitting 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

All seasonal passes must be purchased at: Canton City Hall, 210 North Dakota between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Inclement Weather PolicyTemperature - The air temperature must be above 68 degrees for the swimming pool to be open. The water temperature of the pool must be at least 70 degrees. Lightning - When a lightning storm occurs, all swimmers will clear the pool. Re-entry or re-opening will occur a miniumum of 15 minutes after the most recent sound of thunder or sighting of lightning at the discretion of the Pool Manager. Severe Storm Warning - The pool will close anytime a severe storm warning has been issued for the pool/park area. Pool RentalThe swimming pool can also be rented by groups and individuals for private swimming parties. All rentals must be scheduled at the pool. A signed permit/agreement must be completed and signed by the party responsible for the group. The fees must be paid in full before the party. Times available for rental are Monday through Thursday 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Friday through Sunday 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Rental costs are $66 per hour for up to 30 swimmers (2 Lifeguards) $15 per hour for each additional lifeguard. The number of lifeguards needed is at the discretion of the pool staff. All established pool rules apply for private swimming parties. No alcoholic beverages or those under the influence of alcohol are allowed in the pool. For more information about pool rentals, please contact the Pool Manger. Swimming LessonsThe City of Canton offers American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Programs. Two, 30-minute, preschool levels are offered for 4 and 5 year olds. The American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program features six levels swimming instruction to help swimmers develop their swimming and water safety skills. Students in Level 1 are oriented to the aquatic environment and gain some basic skills. In later levels, students build on their basic skills to learn propulsive movements on their front, back and side. They learn different strokes at various levels and then refine them at later levels. Personal safety and rescue skills are included to help students meet safety goals. By the end of Level 6, students have all the prerequisite skills and have developed the necessary fitness level for entrance into the American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor courses. The City of Canton offers three sessions of swimming lessons. The cost per student is $16.50 or $33.00 per family. The dates of the sessions are: June 14-25, 2010, July 5-16, 2010, and July 19-30, 2010. Tentative times for lessons are: 9am, 10am, 11am, and 5pm. (Lessons vary in duration depending upon the level.) Private lessons are also available for $36. The dates of the sessions are July 28-July 2, 2010 and August 2-6, 2010. All swimming lesson registrations and payment must be made at the swimming pool in person. General Pool Rules- Swimsuits are required. No cut-offs, jeans or sweatpants.
- All swimmers must shower before entering pool.
- Aqua socks may be worn, if clean, before entering the deck or pool.
- No food, beverages, gum, or smoking is allowed in pool or locker rooms.
- Personal floatation devices are not allowed except when sewn into suit and used by individuals with special needs. Air mattrsses and other floatables are not allowed. Swimming goggles are allowed.
- Children under 6 must be accompanied by someone 15 years or older.
- All somersaults (flips), back dives and twists are restricted to diving boards.
- No running, pushing, dunking, or horseplay is allowed.
- All guests should put their cloths and personal objects into a basket and take it to the cashier window for storage until leaving for the day. Pool staff are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Headfirst entries are only allowed in water that is at least six feet deep.
- A break is taken every hour. During this time, all swimmers must exit the water. Swimmers over the age of 18 can swim during these breaks.
Slide/Diving Board Rules- Must go down slides feet first in sitting position.
- Only 1 person is allowed on the slides and board at a time, including the steps.
- Must jump or dive straight off the end of the board.
- Wait for the previous person in front of you to clear the area before using the board or slide.
- Exit the diving or slide area quickly using the nearest ladder.
Wading Pool Rules- Adults must supervise the children they bring.
- No more than seven children per adult supervisor.
- The wading pool is for use by children under 6 years of age, except with special permission from the lifeguard.
- Guest must close the gate after entering or exiting the wading pool area.
- All children must wear swimsuits.
- Small bath tub toys may be allowed at the discretion of the lifeguard.
