Chief Al Warnock

Al started his law enforcement career in 1990 with the Reserve program in Minnehaha
County while serving with the USAF, retiring from the Air Force after 22 years of service. He completed the Law
Enforcement
Academy in August 1994 and started working for the City of Canton in 1995. Al completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in management (Criminal Justice Major) with local universities and works in academia as well as law enforcement. He is a member of the International Association of Identification (IAI) and the South Dakota Division of the IAI.
Assistant Chief David Jacobs

David joined the Canton Police Department in 2005 and was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2008. In High School, David was a lifeguard and a member of the Minnehaha County Sherriff’s office explorers. David began his Law Enforcement career in 1994 as a Corrections Officer with the Clay County Jail. In 1997, he moved to Mobridge, SD and worked as a Corrections Officer for the Walworth County Jail. David joined the Philip Police Department in 1999 and obtained his Law Enforcement Certification in 2000.
Officer Joe Carlson

Joe joined the Canton Police Department in December of 2005. Before working for Canton, Joe attended college at South Dakota
State
University and worked as a Correctional Officer at the Brookings County Jail and a Park Ranger for Oakwood
State Park. Joe graduated from SDSU in May of 2004. Joe also worked as a Campus Safety Officer at Augustana
College.
Officer Adam Dupic

Adam joined the Canton Police Department in March of 2008. Before working for Canton, Adam worked for the South Dakota State University Police Department while attending college in Brookings. In addition to classroom studies, Adam completed a 12 week internship with the Brookings Police Department. Adam graduated from SDSU in May of 2008.
